A false alarm occurs when the fire alarm system activates but there is no actual fire or emergency.
In simple terms, the alarm sounds even though there is no fire present.
False alarms can occur for several reasons, including:
Steam from showers or bathrooms
Burnt toast or cooking fumes
Aerosols such as deodorant, hairspray, or cleaning sprays
Maintenance work or testing without isolating detectors
Accidental activation of a manual call point
Dust or insects entering smoke detectors
Even though there is no fire, a false alarm can:
Disrupt guests
Trigger a response from the fire service
Require documentation in the hotel fire logbook for compliance and review
FireCloud365 allows you to record and manage false alarms directly from the mobile app.
